Welcome back?
Lately I’ve been reading a lot and have been wanting a place to put some thoughts together so I figured I’d start writing here again.  I went through the archives and deleted many old posts, mostly because some of them were shockingly stupid.  I think I got bored, bogged down in the mire of trying to present interesting content everyday so I quit posting in early May last year (what a...

Casiotone For the Painfully Alone, new album,...
Casiotone’s new album “Advance Base Battery Life” is a compilation of singles/rarities from 2004-2007.  I saw CFTPA last year in Madison, WI and realized that although I love his music, Casiotone is meant to be enjoyed…alone (on headphones). CFTPA live in Madison, WI 10.03.08, The Annex The first single “Old Panda Days” is a winner…and as the...

H&R Block and Second Life or Why You Shouldn't...
If you are like me your inbox has been inundated with free offers to file your federal tax return.  On the way to the trash folder, this H&R Block ad caught my eye, not for the cheap stock photo or “Uh Oh. My W2 is Wrong!” podcast, but for the laughable offer to receive tax advice from an online accountant in Second Life. Virtual worlds might be useful for somethings — but...

Akai APC40 Ableton Software USB Controller
I will make a bold prediction: the Akai APC40 will change the way electronic music is written and performed.  Considering that the Akai MPC1000 is already in use by countless indie-rock/indie-tronic acts (including Passion Pit and Paper Route), the APC40 is a big step forward towards bridging the gap between hardware and software with a responsive, intuitive design.

The Submarines w/ Dawn Landes, Black Cat, 02.08.09...
I enjoyed checking out Dawn Landes last night at the sold out Black Cat back door stage.  I wanted to take some video, but it was so crowded I had an obstructed view for most of the set.  The Submarines were solid, well situated in the exploding genre of married/dating rockers playing happy-go-lucky pop songs (i.e. The Weepies, Kaiser Cartel, Mates of State, Matt & Kim).

YouTube Multi-Video Uploader
Recently, I’ve been having trouble uploading videos to YouTube, especially larger HD .mp4s.  After struggling for days with the Jason Anderson concert videos I downgraded them to a smaller resolution to upload faster. The biggest problem I’m having is knowing how the upload is progressing.  Using the normal YouTube upload screen the mouse (on my mac) spins continuously and there is...

Jason Anderson @ Cafe Metropolis, Wilkes-Barre,...
Jason Anderson was fantastic.  After the show I spoke with him and he immediately asked if there were songs that I was disappointed that I didn’t hear.  He quickly grabbed his acoustic and proceeded to give me and @Kate_One a six song private encore. And if that wasn’t already super generous he also gave me a free vinyl copy of “The Hopeful and the Unafraid” and several...

Free Atari POKEY Noise Sample Pack
From LITTLE-SCALE: Overview I have created a set of samples that have been recorded directly from an Atari POKEY chip. I have created all of the sounds myself on the hardware (as in, these are not sounds or samples recorded from games or demo programs). The output from the sound chip has been recorded directly.
