Casiotone’s new album “Advance Base Battery Life” is a compilation of singles/rarities from 2004-2007. I saw CFTPA last year in Madison, WI and realized that although I love his music, Casiotone is meant to be enjoyed…alone (on headphones).

The first single “Old Panda Days” is a winner…and as the Daytrotter Sessions with the Donkey’s revealed, CFTPF is an exceptional songwriter, but is limited in his arrangements. “OPD” is more refined than many of his older solo efforts, featuring a softly spoken duet of sorts with Nick Krgovich, which reminded me of another drum machine lo-fi cut “Sweet Suspense” ft. Kyle Fischer, and Khaela Maricich from The Blow.

If you are like me your inbox has been inundated with free offers to file your federal tax return. On the way to the trash folder, this H&R Block ad caught my eye, not for the cheap stock photo or “Uh Oh. My W2 is Wrong!” podcast, but for the laughable offer to receive tax advice from an online accountant in Second Life.
Virtual worlds might be useful for somethings — but sharing confidential financial information is not one of them.

Another awesome La Blogotheque clip.
