I will make a bold prediction: the Akai APC40 will change the way electronic music is written and performed. Considering that the Akai MPC1000 is already in use by countless indie-rock/indie-tronic acts (including Passion Pit and Paper Route), the APC40 is a big step forward towards bridging the gap between hardware and software with a responsive, intuitive design.
I enjoyed checking out Dawn Landes last night at the sold out Black Cat back door stage. I wanted to take some video, but it was so crowded I had an obstructed view for most of the set. The Submarines were solid, well situated in the exploding genre of married/dating rockers playing happy-go-lucky pop songs (i.e. The Weepies, Kaiser Cartel, Mates of State, Matt & Kim).

Recently, I’ve been having trouble uploading videos to YouTube, especially larger HD .mp4s. After struggling for days with the Jason Anderson concert videos I downgraded them to a smaller resolution to upload faster.
The biggest problem I’m having is knowing how the upload is progressing. Using the normal YouTube upload screen the mouse (on my mac) spins continuously and there is no information offered about how far along the upload has progressed.
Today I discovered the YouTube Multi-Video Uploader which features a “% status” column which is very useful. Is there a way to view the “% status” information using the normal YouTube upload page, or am I better off just using the Multi-Video Uploader exclusively? Thoughts?
Jason Anderson was fantastic. After the show I spoke with him and he immediately asked if there were songs that I was disappointed that I didn’t hear. He quickly grabbed his acoustic and proceeded to give me and @Kate_One a six song private encore.
And if that wasn’t already super generous he also gave me a free vinyl copy of “The Hopeful and the Unafraid” and several “Jason Anderson is Awesome” buttons. I was also glad that my friends Keith and Joanne drove in from Princeton to check out the show. A truly awesome night.
I recorded a few videos during the show with my Flip Mino HD and they turned out OK. The sound is much better than I would have expected but the video is pretty grainy in the low light setting.
